The iQ Concept
Scion iQ is compact car designed completely based on Toyota iQ and it is built by Five Axis. Initially, it was displayed at New York Auto Show held in the year 2009.
However, the power-train in the vehicle is not based on Toyota iQ; it has four cylinder engine, widened wheel arches, and 18″ wheels.
The final version of Scion iQ was completely revealed at New York Auto Show held in the year 2010. It is expected to go for sale in last quarter of 2011.

What Does iQ Mean?
The name iQ refers to “intelligence quotient”, which is a direct answer to its competitor Smart For-two. Scion says that iQ is the world’s smallest 2 door car.
Scion iQ Design
The design of Scion iQ emphasizes maneuverability, low fuel consumption, and finally maximized interior space that contribute to its minimal overhangs.
The design includes newly developed differential, take-off steering gear, rear-angled shock absorbers, and flat fuel tank.
And, it is definitely developed keeping the needs of a small family in mind, looking for a cost-effective solution to city driving, not the fancy stuff, and off-roading!
Engine Specs
The 1.0L engine equipped in the vehicle is pretty much similar to the engine equipped in Toyota Aygo.
Gas Mileage
iQ achieves mileage of 65.69 mpg, considering European standards. All UK models come with petrol engines, while the Japanese models include 1.0L engine and 1.33L engine option for the year 2009.
iQ models equipped with 1.33Liter engine come with stop and start system.

It generates output power of around 90 hp,which is translated to the front wheels with the standard Continuously Variable Transmission.
Interiors

Once again, despite the compact size, iQ comes with sophisticated interiors featuring high tech gadgetry, lovely gear-box design, and a really cool feel inside the cabin.
Performance
2011 Scion iQ is one of the Low Emission Vehicles, which is very much expected to give fuel economy of around high 30s.
However, on the downside, it has mediocre cargo capacity and passenger carrying capacity, and of course really minimal room!

Safety
Scion iQ is pretty compact in size, but doesn’t compromise on safety at all, sporting everything right from a Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), anti-lock brake system (ABS), Traction Control, Electronic Brake Force Distribution down to a Brake Assist system.
New iQ also comes loaded with dual frontal airbags, nine airbags, side curtain airbags, and side torso airbags.
Driving Impression
The great IQ city car does everything small, but in a great way and it is slightly bigger than a Smart ForTwo without any doubt. It is few among those small cars on sale today in US with pony less than 100hp.
Its electric steering offers a quick response, but it doesn’t offer quick reaction from its175/60-16 tires.
Because of its compressed measurements, it can be susceptible to stroll and pull from road troubles like grooves, dips, and cable car tracks.
The rear shock absorbers feel remarkably protected at highway speeds with no noticeable crosswinds to threaten us.
